In the Henge of the Cobbled Path our emphasis is on experiencing the Gods, on serving Them, and on embodying and promoting Their values and virtues. Understanding Them intellectually is a worthy goal, but it is not our primary purpose. Still, our practices and the experiences that flow from them are grounded in our conception of the Gods.

Polytheism as we understand and practice it is the religious regard for many real Gods.

We see the Gods as real, distinct, individual beings with Their own sovereignty and agency. Individual Gods may take multiple forms, but all Gods are not “aspects” or “faces” of one God. We may experience Them internally and such experiences will necessarily be filtered through our own thoughts and minds, but the Gods’ existence is not dependent on humans. They are beings, not metaphors.

The Gods are worthy of our honor and service because They are virtuous. But each deity has Their own goals and plans, and Their priorities may or may not align with ours. We, not They, are ultimately responsible for our lives and the directions we take.

The Henge of the Cobbled Path respects and will work with all persons of good will where our goals and interests coincide. We judge those who see the Gods differently and who follow other religions by how they live their lives, not by how closely their beliefs match ours. But within the Henge, we are polytheists.
